In the sector of transportation planning, Mode choice is a key decision in trip makingprocess. Despite limitations, traditional choice models are widely used by transport plannersfor their computational ease and theoretical transparency. The major problems thetraditional ones pose are the lack of flexibility and rigidity regarding specification. 'NeuralNetwork' technique has the capability to overcome these limitations. Moreover due to itsaffinity to natural learning and decision-making process it has become a highly popular toolto planners and analysts. This paper describes two models of transport mode choice basedon Neural Network technique. The paper also describes the feasibility of these intelligentmode choice approaches to work as a planning tool.
