A HSR project can be compared to an aeronautics project, especially in terms of rolling stock maintenance organization (modular design ). The rolling stock (RS) level of availability and reliability must be as high as possible and maintenance costs must be considered as the strategic part of the rolling stock life cycle cost borne by the owner. HST maintenance activities are so frequent, critical and expensive that they require an optimized ' multisite' maintenance system and an organization in conjunction with the operation plan.
