TRAFIKEN.NU – TRAFFIC INFORATION FROM A USER’S PERSPECTIVE

In the late 1990s an idea was conceived of creating a multimodal internet-based traffic information service for the Stockholm region. The service was launched as www.trafiken.nu, a name that is still used and reflects what it offers – the current traffic situation, for all modes of transport. The stakeholders behind the website include: Stockholm Public Transport, the City of Stockholm and the Swedish Road Administration. In September a multimodal journey planner will be integrated into Trafiken.nu. This function will enable comparisons for journey times, cost and environmental impact of journeys made by car, public transport, bike, walking and a combination of these.
