Aged Adhesion Improvement of Low Solid Content Tabbing Paste

In the photovoltaic industry both the increase of solar cell efficiency and cost reduction are critical topics for profit of cell manufacturers. This work presents a reliable low solid content tabbing paste for PERC application to help cell manufacturer to improve their cell efficiency while reducing cost. In the initial stage of our development, we were able to optimize paste chemistry to obtain comparable cell efficiency and standard adhesion after the paste solid was reduced by 20%, with the drawback that aged adhesion from the low solid pastes dropped dramatically. Aged adhesion is an important index for solar cell module reliability. Higher aged adhesion from low solid paste is a big challenge. In this paper, we present a new generation of low solid tabbing paste using a newly developed glass system, demonstrating comparable efficiency and adhesion compared to the traditional high solid tabbing paste, with good aged adhesion.
