Data of metal availability in soils are very important for predicting ecological risks and nutrition status. A rapid and convenient procedure based upon ion-exchange paper accumulation and X-ray spectrometrical determination was tested and confirmed in experiments with derno-podzolic soil and national soil reference materials. Availability of manganese determined was confirmed by good correlation (r2= 0.87) of paper and barley content in vegetation experiment with the soil samples collected from the limed and no-limed pots of long-term Timiaryasrv academy field experiment.
