A new control scheme for multimedia personal LANs

摘要

This paper presents a new control scheme to realize concurrentntransmission for multi-users in multimedia communication on token ringnlocal area networks (LANs). When a token arrives-at a stationncontinuously transmitting a frame to another station, the station willninsert a control pattern called insertion pattern IP to the data fieldnof the frame. A destination station will detect such a pattern andnrelease a new token to the ring. Thereby, concurrent transmissionsnbetween stations can be performed. Simulation results show that thenscheme has better performance than that of conventional tokennrings
