In this research a review was undertaken of the main parameters that affect coal dustability. These parameters were used as the input to a simple statistical model that identified which parameters were statistically significant and subsequently used to develop a multiple regression model capable of predicting coal dustability. Four sets of coal specimens were analyzed to provide data on their chemical and physical characteristics including ash content, volatile matter content, moisture content, hardness and uniaxial compressive strength. Standard coal specimens of known amount were crus hed before injection into a specially designed and manufactured dust chamber The results of dust measurements were analyzed statistically by using a simple multiple regression technique. Among the parameters determined by chemical and physical analysis, the moisture content, hardness and uniaxial compressive strength of coal specimens were seen to be most meaningful and the mathematical relationship between coal dustability and the related coal parameters were determined.
