Experimental Testing of a W-band spatial harmonic magnetron

摘要

A spatial harmonic magnetron(SHM) in W-band has been tested experimentally in QMUL. The magnetron mainly consists of an unstrapped annular-sector resonator system with 16 side cavities and a secondary electron-emission cathode driven by a prime thermionic cathode, operating in π/2–1 mode with a frequency of 95GHz. The hot test experimental results show a pulsed peak power of 6.18 kW and duration of 200ns. The whole efficiency of the magnetron is more than 7.25% with a voltage of 10kV, an anode current of 10A and a magnetic field of 0.845T.
