A Polarization Rotator for Terahertz Propagation Measurement System

Millimeter wave propagation in a real complex environment is of much interest to the communities of remote sensing, communication and detection. To systematically evaluate the path loss of millimeter wave in rainy and foggy environment, a well-designed system is required to control the beam divergence and the polarization of the launched beam. This paper presented a broadband polarization rotator for millimeter wave propagation measurement using a quasioptical system. The insertion loss of the polarization rotator is less than 0.5dB and the bandwidth is more than 140GHz, covering a frequency range of 100–240 GHz. Parametric study shows a good angular stability and polarization independent property.
