Advanced ceramics are extremely hard to machine using conventional methods. Until now, reproducible mirror surface machining of ceramic material parts has mainly been performed by polishing or lapping. Grinding in particular, compared with lapping and polishing, efficiently produces the geometric form. New grinding techniques for ceramics which employ fine bonded superabrasive wheels and high stiffness grinding machines have been designed to achieve high grinding efficiency and high quality ceramic parts. The ELID grinding technique is a precision machining process involving rigid metallic bonded grinding wheels and a special pulsed electrolytic in-process dressing method [1-7]. In this study, we have conducted the efficient and high precision grinding of some advanced ceramics materials.
