摘要

In this paper, the general characteristics and specifications of the Karkheh Embankment Dam (one of the largest dam in the Middle-East, under construction in Iran) and its complicated site are presented. The design parameters and results of deformation analyses carried out by finite element method are explained. The actual deformations of the dam measured by instruments during construction are introduced and compared with the predicted values obtained from stage analyses. At the end, some important conclusions are derived in connection with the successful remedial measure performed to limit the settlements of the Kakheh extra-large earth dam, and also its future deformation behavior.
