This research conducts a study of finite element prediction of martensite volume fraction in SS304 tube hydroforming (THF).The investigated tube is the stainless steel 304 with an initial thickness of 0.5 mm and an outer diameter of 80 mm.The transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) effect can be seen in austenitic stainless steels.The TRIP-material model is implemented in LS-DYNA.The tube is modeled by using a shell element.The strain-induced martensitic transformation occurred during the forming process was physically examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) method.The amounts of martensite took place in tubes formed via simulation and XRD test were compared.
