This paper considers inverse boundary element calculations for deriving equivalent acousticalrnsource models, which for instance can be used in the context of airborne transfer pathrnanalysis. A regularisation scheme based upon the 1-norm is presented allowing to computingrna sparse surface volume velocity distribution for the boundary element model. As arnconsequence, an equivalent acoustical model represented by a hard surface model including arnlimited number of point sources on this surface may be derived. A simple test case showsrnhow this inverse technique leads to detecting the number of point sources including theirrnposition and the source strength in terms of volume velocity.
