Abstract: Transverse optical bistability switching dynamics of self-focusing counter-propagating laser beams in a nonlinear medium are investigated by analytical and numerical methods. Cavityless transverse optical bistability in a thin silicon carbide crystal has been implemented experimentally with a characteristic switching time of about 10$+$MIN@10$/ s. !12
