Continuous surface wave results obtained during a site investigation program carried out at a municipal solid waste landfill located in the North East of Melbourne have been interpolated using a geostatistical approach to model spatial trends within the waste mass at a given depth. The interpolation method was used to map the spatial distribution of the shear wave velocity, V_s, at a specified depth. Using geostatistics, the values of V_s were obtained for both sampled and un-sampled points in the study area at the specified depth. This approach allowed the identification of stiff and soft areas in the landfill.
