New intelligent traffic guidance system by active -illuminant lamps in fog area

摘要

To avoid the vicious chain collision accidents in foggy weather, a new intelligent traffic guidance system in fog area is developed and system control strategy is descripted in detail. The new system uses controllable active-illuminant lamps located on both sides of the road and the control strategy to form dynamic flashing red warning light band and amber guidance light band which can adjust vehicles to maintain safe speed and headway according to the visibility. The application of this system in the fog area of highway can enhance traffic performance and operation safety.
