Catalytic Effect of Biomass Ash during Anthracite Gasification

The catalytic ability of different forms of alkali metals in biomass ash was investigated. Residuesrnwith different forms of alkali metals were acquired by successive leaching treatment on biomass ash using de-ionrnwater, NH_4Ac solution and HCl solution. Thermogravimetric experiment shown that the biomass ash willrnparticipate in the coal char gasification process during co-gasification, thus a positive effect was occurred due tornthe catalytic effect of biomass ash. The water-soluble and HCl-insoluble alkali species in biomass ash has thernpositive effect on coal char gasification. While the catalytic ability of different forms of alkali metals made norndifference after removed the minerals. After “shield” the effect of minerals in coal chat by added a little amountrnof CaCO_3 during the coal char preparation process, the catalytic ability of different forms alkali metals werernalmost the same. The addition of CaCO_3 during coal char preparation process could improve the catalytic abilityrnof biomass ash.
