Temperature Programmed Reduction (TPR) studies on Jeypore coal of Assam State of North Eastern Region ofrnIndia have been carried out in presence of Resorcinol and Hydrogen gas from room temperature to 620℃ with 10℃rnC/minute heating rate. Six numbers of hydrogen sulphide evolutions from Jeypore coal were observed in therntemperature range of 190℃ – 220℃, 260℃ – 290℃, 360℃– 390℃, 460℃ – 490℃, 510℃ – 540℃ and 5900rnC – 620℃ corresponding to disulphide (1.10), Thiol (1.57), Thioether (0.50), Thiophene (0.43), pyrite + part ofrncomplex thiophene (0.70), and part of complex thiophene (0.14). These assignments were made based on thernexperimental results obtained using model sulphur compounds viz. synthetic rubber, Thiokol, thianthrene,rndibenzothiophene, L cystein, Resin containing thiol terminal group, thioplast, pyrite with sand, and Garlic. Thernthioketonic sulphur in Jeypore coal was estimated to be 0.28, using controlled nitric acid oxidation experiments.
