Bond Parameters Affecting to Fatigue Characteristics of a Co-cured Single Lap Joint Subjected to Cyclic Tensile Loads

摘要

A co-cured joining method, whose curing and bonding processes are achieved simultaneously, can be regarded as an adhesively bonded joining method because it uses an excess resin extracted from the composite materials as an adhesive. A co-cured joint requires neither an additional adhesive nor surface treatment of the composite adherend. The analysis and design of the co-cured joint for composite structures are simpler than that of the adhesively bonded joint, which uses an additional adhesive. In this paper, fatigue characteristics of the co-cured single lap joint with the steel and carbon fiber-epoxy composite adherends will be experimentally investigated with respect to two bond parameters, namely surface roughness and stacking sequence of the composite adherend.
