At the International Conference Numisheet 93 in Tokyo, an experimental and numerical benchmark on the shape after spring back of a deep drawn 'U' has been presented in order to check the validity of several F.E.M. softwares. The results were very sparse, so numerical prediction of spring back is still relevant as high yield strength steel sheet and aluminium alloys are in growing use in automotive industry.
