To speed up the devleopment/application of the SWATH Greeting the new ocean age of the 21 th century

SWATH is a High-Performances Marine Vehicle devleoped rapidly in the late period of th 20th century. It has such prominent performances as keeping high-speed in rough sea conditions, good seakeeping, stable response to motion in zero speed, broad deck area and effective hold capacity while with comparative small displacement, suitable for taking off/landing helicopter, taking up/putting down deep-diving vehicle and working boat, etc. The related countries at first stage usually use the SWATH as sea service, transportation & military auxiliary ship in rough sea and also adopted as high performance/multi-function sea platform provided for all weather condition surface ship/boat high-comfort sea passenger transportation and special official duty. This paper predicates the application of SWATH in China and Asia - Pacific area throughanalyzing it's developing history and the newest trend of SWATH in the worldwide advanced shipbuilding countries.
