Thermal decomposition behavior and kinetics reaction mechanism of PBX JO-8 were studied by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermogravimetric analyzer (TG) techniques. The kinetic parameters of the exothermic decomposition reaction were calculated by a single non-isothermal DSC curve such as apparent activation energy E and pre-exponential factor A. The apparent activation energy was calculated by Flynn-Wall-Ozawa and Vyazovkin method which both belong to isoconversional method, and the results of above methods were similar. The pre-exponential factor was obtained by ASTM method E698. By Malek method, the reaction mechanism was defined as G (α)=(1-α)=-1. The critical temperature of thermal explosion of PBX JO-8 was computed by Zhang-Hu-Xie-Li's method. The thermodynamic parametesrs of △G#, △H#, △S# were calculated.
