Introduction on the Technology Route of Shenhua Coal to Hydrogen Unit

Shenhua Coal Direct Liquefaction Project is to use Shenhua coal as the raw material to produce products such as naphtha, diesel and liquefied gas by using direct coal liquefaction technology. It is China's key development project of oil substitution with coal and energy transition. The coal to hydrogen unit is one of the key production units of the project. It consists of air separation unit, pulverized coal preparation unit, pulverized coal gasification unit, CO shift unit, rectisol unit, PSA and refrigerating unit, and provides hydrogen to coal liquefaction unit and liquefied oil upgrading unit separately. The paper mainly presents the technology characteristics and process flow of the coal to hydrogen unit. In addition, it briefly explains the selecting basis of the coal to hydrogen technology by comparing coal to hydrogen with natural gas to hydrogen in terms of production reliability, production investment and operation cost.
