This paper discusses the concept of using an alloy for high temperature thermal storage, utilizing a phase-change, in the field of solar energy. Two kinds of phase-change metals have been selected for high temperature thermal storage of solar energy. The major thermal performance parameters of metals are systematically measured. Both heat and mass transfer in the process of high termperature thermal storage have been investigated by the methods of energy spectrum analysis, X-ray diffraction and so on. Two devices are introduced for thermal storage of phase-change metal for solar energy.
