Electrospinning has been recently paid attention to prepare nonwoven consisted of ultrafine fibers. The electrospun nonwoven is a high surface area per unit volume and small pore size. So, they are expected to use as a reinforced fibers in composite materials. However, electrospun nonwoven has a poor mechanical properties, it is limited for various applications. In this study, polyblends of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)/polyurethane (PU) were dissolved in the mixture of tetrahydrofuran (THF)/N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). PVC/PU blend nonwovens with diameters in ranging from nano to submicrons were prepared via electrospinning, and played a role of the matrix. Also, polyethylene oxide (PEO) dissolved in distilled water, were used as the reinforced materials for improving the mechanical properties. Mechanical properties of the electrospun PVC/PU blend nonwovens reinforced with PEO were studied as a function of PEO concentration. These nonwoven coated with PEO were characterized by a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and a universal testing machine (UTM).
