摘要

A natural curvature caused by the recovery force of the extended fabric results from fabric overfeed during seaming. Although the value of the natural curvature depends on the level of fabric overfeed, but it does not always increase with the increasing of the overfeed ratio due to the recovery property of the fabric. In this paper, the effect of the recovery ratio of the extended fabric to the natural curvature of fabric overfed seam is examined and discussed by the approach of energy. The results show that the recovery energy of the fabric in overfed seam is used up for the compressive energy and the bending energy, which is related to the longitudinal compression and the bending rigidity of the fabric respectively. The value of the natural curvature is increase proportionally with the increasing of the recovery energy of the fabric and effected by the fabric formability which is a measure of the maximum compression before the onset of fabric buckling.
