Quite a number of composite bonding agents such as RE/A, RS/RH, RS/A, RE/RH, RH were selected and the vulcanization characteristics and mechanical properties and adhesive strengths of the natural rubber (NR) with bonding agents as well as those of the control were investigated. The results indicate that the composite bonding agents show different effects on the vulcanization characteristics and mechanical properties of NR. The cure rates of the compounds with RS/RH, RE/RH and RH are accelerated and the maximum torques, the tensile strengths, hardness as well as tensile stresses at a given elongation are higher than those of the control. Whereas, the elongations at break are lower than that of the control. In the case of the compounds with bonding agents, the adhesive strengths between rubber and textile are head and shoulders above that of the control, in which the compound with RE/RH shows the highest adhesive strength.
