Very High Performance FOG for Space Use

A FOG has been designed to meet the 0.001°/h class in orbit. A space IMU has been designed with several FOGs. This work has been done in close partnership between Ixsea-Oceano (formerly the Navigation Division of Photonetics), specialized in the design and manufacturing of high performance FOG and associated systems, and Astrium, prime contractor for satellite developments, with a long experience in space IMU design, manufacturing and test. This design has been done under CNES funding (French Space Agency). We present briefly the companies and the project, the FOG design and the IMU design, and we present the first test results of the FOG prototype.
