Integrated control technology research on stem-nematode disease of sweetpotato

We tested the effect of three different types of pesticide on controlling sweetpotato stem-nematode disease in two sweetpotato varieties. Results showed that all three pesticides (30% phoxim micro-capsules, 5% shennongdan (Aldicrab), 10% Ethoprophos) could control sweetpotato stem-nematode disease effectively. They could control above 88% stemmematode disease on susceptible variety Xushu 18 and above 70% on resistant variety Xushu 25. The difference between two varieties was indistinctive and the fresh yield of sweetpotato increased significantly. 30% phoxim micro-capsules had low toxicity and residue which can replace highly toxic residual pesticides such as Aldicrab and Ethoprophos on controlling stem-nematode. Xushu 25 had obvious resistance to sweetpotato stem-nematode disease. The technology based on chemical control and selection of disease-resistant varieties can control the hazard effectively. The integrated control effect of this technology reached 92.1%,leading to significant increase in the yield of sweetpotato.
