GETTING A CHARGE OUT OF ELECTRONICS RECYCLING:E-WASTE COLLECTION IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY AND THE COUNTRY

Every day, nearly 10,000 computers become obsolete in California. Compounded with the disposal of other electronics,rnthis material, known as E-Waste, presents a major disposal challenge for jurisdictions throughout the nation. Los AngelesrnCounty, one of the first local municipalities in the nation to take a proactive approach in combating E-Waste, hasrnsuccessfully helped to recycle three million pounds since 2001, 1.7 million pound in 2004 alone.
