This paper presents the results of experimental tests conducted on a straight trapezoidal steel box girder under pure torsion with permanent metal-deck forms serving as the top-flange lateral bracing. An equivalent flat-plate approximation was used to model the corrugated metal decking and is based on shear stiffness predictions from the Steel Deck Institute Diaphragm Design Manual. Experimental results are compared with finite-element predictions and the validity of the equivalent-plate approximation is examined.
