Graphical Data Processor for Shape Optimisation of Sections under Torsion

摘要

An interactive program for graphical presentation of the shape optimisation process of simply and multiply-connected isotropic sections under the Saint-Venant torsion by using B.E.M. is presented in this paper. The program incorporates some graphical tools essential for pre-processing, analysis and post-processing of the optimisation system. It also allows to carry out boundary mesh modifications necessary to be done because of changes of mesh geometry or intersections between boundaries. The optimisation problem is formulated to obtain a minimum area with given torsion stiffness. The expression for the stiffness is established as a function of boundary integrals that depend on state variables based on the boundary nodes co-ordinates. These variables are obtained by using B.E.M. To solve the optimisation problem a method using the ideas of the feasible direction method and the gradient method are employed.
