摘要

The shear strength of rock mass plays an important role in estimating reasonably stability of rocky slope and foundation. But rock masses always cut into blocks by joints or fissures in the natural world are discontinuous medium. The theory of continuous medium mechanics is not suitable for discontinuous medium. The strength of jointed rock masses may be described with a range between the strength envelope of intact rock block and the frictional strength envelope that rock blocks slip along smooth joint surface. How to quantitatively determine the shear strength of jointed rock mass, author carried out a lot of direct shear tests on three kinds of joint model, and established the structural influence function of common jointed models. Therefore, author proposed a method that the shear strength of jointed rock mass can be estimated by the structural influence function of joint system and the strength of rock block.
