We would like to start the discussion with some questions arising from the paper by Kovacevic, Higgins, Potts and Vaughan 'Undrained behaviour of brecciated Upper Lias Clay at Empingham Dam'. Our first question is, in the light of back-analysis of the behaviour of the Upper Lias Clay at the site, what site investigation techniques would the authors recommend in similar situations?
