We report a method for obtaining atomically thin layers of titanium ditelluride (TiTe_2) and describe the electronic and phonon properties of the resulting quasi-2D crystals. TiTe_2 belongs to the class of transition-metal dichalcogenides, which have a layered crystalline structure. This material can be separated out into atomically thin tri-layers of Te- Ti - Te.Due to the nature of the extremely small thickness of these atomically thin quasi-2D crystals, ~0.271 run in height, one can achieve strong spatial confinement of charge carriers and phonons. Our approach allows one to tune the electron and phonon transport properties of this atomically thin material to enhance their electrical, ferromagnetic and thermoelectric properties.
