Many employers and organizations throughout the worldrnreport high levels of stress in the workforce. Concerns aboutrnthe human costs as well as organizational performance havernresulted in many employers introducing stress managementrnprograms. Often however little is known about the actualrnscale of the problem, possible causes and the effectiveness ofrnthe proposed interventions.rnOver a two year period over 2,500 employees underwent arnsimple psychological screening process using previouslyrnvalidated questionnaires (GHQ12 and HADS). This processrnresulted in a psychological map of the organization showingrnthe areas where levels of anxiety and stress within therncompany were high and required intervention. The datarncollected proved valuable in targeting hot spots, monitoringrnthe effectiveness of interventions and has provided a basis forrnfuture work on stress management.
