Abstract: The Spectrum-UV mission, a general purpose ultravioletobservatory endowed with a 170-cm aperture telescopefor imaging and spectroscopy in the 912 to 3600angstroms range, will be launched in a seven days, highelliptical orbit in the late '90s by a Proton booster.The advanced feasibility study, carried on by aninternational study team from the participatingCountries (Canada, Germany, Italy, Russia and Ukraine)is close to completion. The focal plane instrumentcomplement for spectroscopy are described, and inparticular the high resolution Echelle spectrograph andthe Rowland one.!3
