The objective of this paper is to present the spatialrndistribution and temporal variability of solar radiant overrnsouthern Thailand. The incident of solar radiation on arnhorizontal plane was estimated at 14 synoptic stationsrnusing the Angstrom’s correlationship which was obtainedrnfrom meteorological data. The rainfall amounts at threernmain meteorological stations i.e. Surat Thani airport,rnPhuket airport and Hat Yai airport were proposed torncorrelate to the sunshine hours and therefore to predictrnthem in meteorological stations where sunshine recordersrnwere absent and rainfall data were present. ThernAngstrom’s correlation coefficients (a and b) werernobtained using the correlation between the sunshine hourrnand day length. After the extraterrestrial solar radiationrnwas known, the solar radiant was obtained. The spatialrndistribution and temporal variability of solar radiant overrnsouthern Thailand was performed using SURFERrncomputer software. It was found that the solar radiantrnover southern Thailand varied in the range of 12.51-24.54rnMJ/m2-day. Finally, it was clearly revealed that therntemporal variation of solar radiant over southern Thailandrngreatly depended on the influence of the North-East andrnSouth-West monsoons.
