THE SWEDISH NATIONAL CO-FINANCED PROGRAMME ON PHOTVOLTAIC (PV)SYSTEMS AND APPLICATIONS - RESULTS AND FUTURE OUTLOOK

This paper describes “The Swedish national co-financed programme on Photvoltaic (PV) systems and applications, SolEl 00-02”, which has been an applied research and development program being carried out over the period 2000-2002. It has been complementary and to some extent linked to the Ångström Solar Center R&D programme and swedish demonstrations of PV systems. The main task has been to perform development, objective analysis and information dissemination concerning technical issues, costs and applications of PV systems. The goals have been to; increase the level of knowledge of PV as a source of energy and as a building component, identify possible applications for stand-alone and grid-connected PV, increase readiness for commercialisation of of PV technology. The priority areas of SolEl 00-02 are user-oriented activities from two perspectives – PV as an energy source and PV as building components. During the programme , a total of more then twenty sub-activities has been carried out. Generally positive feedback has been received and an evaluation of the programme recommends a program extension with another three years. The paper presents the programme status, results and future outlook.
