SUNRISE - A Major E.C-Funded Housing Demonstration Project

SUNRISE, a large-scale housing demonstration project that focuses on improvements in the energy and environmental performance of apartment buildings in Europe, is part- funded by the European Commission within its 5˜th Framework program. The project is co-ordinated by the Serge JAURÉ of the French architectural firm, ARCHIMEDES, a the founder member of the European Housing Ecology Network (EHEN) with broad experience of co-ordinating large housing demonstration projects, in particular two recent EC-funded projects, SUNH and SHINE. SUNRISE began in January 2000 with participation by organisations in seven EU Member States and Norway: (Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom) and is of 54 months duration. SUNRISE has recently seen the addition of a housing project in Ljubljana.
