Boron-doped chemical vapor-deposited diamond thin film are drawing much attention for various possible electrochemical applications. We have been working in this field to examine the performance of diamond in electroanalysis, photoelectrochemistry and electric double layer capacitor applications. Our investigations have revealed the excellent performance of diamond for the electroanalytical determination of NADH, serotonine, histamine, uric acid and several sulfa drugs in comparison to conventional glassy carbon electrodes. We have demonstrated the potential use of this electrode for electroanalysis in a flow injection system for the determination of a number of compounds. Nano-textured honeycomb diamond film electrodes, prepared by oxygen plasma etching, have exhibited a wide potential window, similar to that of as-grown film but with a capacitance 200 times higher than that of the as-grown film. A photoelectrochemical study of semiconducting diamond electrodes has revealed that its flat-band potential is very sensitive to the presence of surface oxygen groups.
