The improvement of luminance and luminous efficiency is the one of the most important part in AC-PDPs. The influence of gas-mixing ratio(Ne-Xe, He-Ne(27%)-Xe(3%)) on luminance and luminous efficiency in surface discharge AC-PDPs has been investigated. The discharge power and luminous intensity of three species mixing gas, He-Ne(27%)-Xe(3%) is found to be much lower and higher than those for the two species mixture Ne-Xe mixture gas system, respectively. The three species mixing gas. He-Ne(27%)-Xe(3%), can be suggested as the one of the candidates to achieve high luminance and luminous efficiency of color PDPs. based on the experimental observations of luminance, power, response time, and efficiency.
