In this paper, the characteristics and general laws of cutting complex curved surface by NC-WEDM (Numeric Control-Wire Cut Electric Discharge Machining) system of polar coordinate are systematically analyzed, and the motion parameters and motion forms of NC-WEDM system of polar coordinate are also analyzed. Then, the universal mathematical models are derived. With the help of these mathematical models, experiments on cutting complex curved surface by NC-WEDM system of polar coordinate are conducted. Many complex curve-surface parts in some representative motion forms are machined, and the application range and exploitation foreground of these parts machined are analyzed. All of these works provides an effective approach for us to resolve the problems in cutting complex curve-surface parts by NC-WEDM.
