The Distribution and Regulation Unit (DRU) was developed in the frame of LEOSTAR platform program. It is intended as a versatile multi-mission power regulation and distribution unit for satellites up to 850W , to cover a wide range of Earth Observation, Science and Communications applications in Low Earth Orbit. The DRU design is based on a low cost, robust and straightforward concept, using solid state power controllers (SSPC). To cope with the variety of mission needs, a flexible architecture has been defined, while offering a full redundancy scheme, being the DRU able to operate in configurations mixing nominal and redundant units. The requirements of versatility, low cost and high density of integration has driven the design of the DRU modules. In this way, the definition of the DRU power distribution and driving capabilities can be done one or two months prior to FM manufacturing.
