SINGLE-POLARIZATION CHARACTERISTICS OF W-TYPE NONCONFOCAL ELLIPTIC FIBERS

Single-polarization characteristics of W-Type nonconfocal elliptic fibers are studied. The outside layer of a core is composed of a nonconfocal elliptic layer. Two types of a cross section are analyzed; the major axis of the core equals the major axis of the pit(type-1 fiber),and the minor axis of the core equals the minor axis of the pit(type-2 fiber). Numerical analyses are nvestigated to obtain simultaneously (1)the larger normalized propagation constant of a guided wave and (2)the zero total dispersion at the operating wavelength of 1.55μm.
