A state variable model for the non-isothermal kinetics of the diffusion-controlled #alpha#+#beta#->#beta# phase transformaiton in Ti-6Al-4V was develoepd and implemented in a finite element analysis process simulation.The purpose of htis simulation was to predict the extent of the phase transformation that occurs in hot and rapid non-isothermal bulk forming porcesses due to the adiabatic increase f hte forming temperatureto values higher than the beta transus temeprature,T_#beta#,for a short period of time.THe predictions of the ifnite element analysis and the state variable model were verified by experimental observations.
