Modelisation and evaluation of a periodic producer/consumer relationship implemented on an atm lan

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the influence of the behaviour of a switch on the performance of a periodic and distributed Producer/Consumer relationship. We study the impact of the mechanisms involved at switch level (concentration, buffering and scheduling) and of the network load on the performance of the Producer/Consumer relationship. This study is based on the formal model"Stochastic Timed Petri Nets" (Atamna 94) and the evaluations concern cell loss, cell delay and average time between consumptions.
