摘要

The microstructure and hardness of two Friction Stir Welded aluminium alloys (AA 5083 and AA 6082) have been investigated. Transverse tensile testing across the weld has also been made. The microstructure of the base material differed already at the optical level. In the nugget zone, both alloys showed an equiaxed, fine grained structure. In the thermomechnically affected zone, some grain deformation could be observed. The annual ring structure was found in both alloys, but with the optical microscope the microstructure in the rings was very similar to areas beside the rings.
