EXISTING HOSPITAL WASTE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES AND SCOPE OF THEIR ECO-FRIENDLY TREATMENT IN UDAIPUR CITY

The expansion of population, poverty, malnutrition have effected people from health problems. Number of patients have increased many fold in last one decade in Udaipur region. Therefore, many more new hospitalsursing homes have come up in the city. The waste generated in the hospital is generally not treated properly before disposal causing a serious threat to the environment and health of the people residing in surrounding areas. Survey of waste disposal techniques of the hospitals were conducted in the city and eco-friendly waste management systems were developed for adoption. The paper discusses about the collection, transportation and disposal of medical waste in eco-friendly manner suitable for hospitals in Udaipur City. A hospital waste management system is devised to check the eco-friendly disposal of hospital waste.
