摘要

Functionally graded beams with edge cracks parallel to the direction of the elastic gradient are studied under impact loading, and compared to the response of homogeneous beams. Crack tip fields are optically mapped using Coherent Gradient Sensing (CGS) technique. Recently developed equations for steadily growing crack in FGMs are used to extract crack tip parameters from optical fringes. The measured SIFs are used to validate results from numerical simulations.
